About Lyn

Picture
I have worked with a variety of people from many walks of life throughout my 30 years experience in social welfare. Although experiencing a diverse range of difficulties very differently, in my opinion there was an important similarity between each individual. As well as pressing practical needs, people wanted not only to voice what they needed and how that need might be met, they wanted someone to know how it felt for them to be in that situation. They wanted to be listened to. I seemed to have the ability to listen. They seemed to be able to talk to me. To train as a counsellor was a natural next step.

Working with adults on a one to one basis, I am an integrative counsellor  with the
Person Centred Approach  at the heart of my work. By drawing upon  different therapeutic models e.g. ,
Gestalt, Cognitive Behavior  Therapy ,Transactional Analysis,  Mindfulness;  I am able to work creatively in a way that best suits you, on a wide range of issues. examples of which are:-
Abuse, Anger, Anxiety, Betrayal, Bereavement, Eating Disorders, Grief and Loss, Loneliness/Isolation, Low Confidence, Low Self Esteem, Relationship Difficulties, Stress, Trauma.

I am also an experienced bereavement counsellor working with people who are struggling to come to terms with, and make sense of, their loss.

I regularly update my skills and knowledge base in order to ensure that I continue to work in an informed and safe way.

Membership of Professional Associations

I am member of both the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). and of
the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC).  I work towards the ethical framework of both associations.
